Woods Road MD-16
Maryland State Highway Administration awarded JJID the project at MD 16 and Woods Road for Geometric improvements including the creation of a roundabout. This project was a complex task that was well suited for the expertise, resources, and leadership that JJID brings to every Job. This Geometric improvement had its share of challenges including: 4900 cars travel this route daily- that is 3.5 cars per minute, Significant improvements had to be made to the drainage and storm water runoff in the area, and large areas of riprap had to be placed to prevent erosion.
This Job was finished ahead of schedule, under budget, and garnered an A rating from the MDOT SHA for excellence in craftsmanship, partnership, and management. This rating evaluates a Contractor off of nine criteria and is considered by many the gold standard of rating systems. JJID’s expertise assisted this project by reengineering the Maintenance of Traffic pattern not only saving the SHA over $200,000 but also assisting the project in completing ahead of schedule and with a perfect worksite safety record.
